Community Manager
Location: Remote (Worldwide)
Type: Part-time (15–25 hours/week, flexible)
About SkyMapper
SkyMapper is building the world’s first decentralized real-time optical sensing network. Our community of SkyKeepers operates telescopes and all-sky cameras across the globe, helping monitor satellites, space debris, meteors, astronomical events, and even drones.
We’re looking for a Community Manager who understands astronomy, enjoys working with passionate people, and wants to help grow one of the most exciting scientific communities in the world.
Your Mission
Your primary responsibility will be to support and grow the SkyKeeper community while helping transform users into long-term contributors and ambassadors.
You will work closely with our Marketing Lead, Science Team, and Product Team to ensure our community stays engaged, informed, and excited about what we’re building.
Responsibilities
- Be the primary point of contact for the SkyKeeper community.
- Welcome and onboard new community members.
- Help users install, connect, and successfully operate their telescopes and SkyBridge devices.
- Answer questions on Discord, Telegram, social media, and community forums.
- Organize online community events, AMAs, webinars, observing campaigns, and challenges.
- Create initiatives that reward participation and encourage long-term engagement.
- Coordinate citizen science projects and observing campaigns with the Science Team.
- Collect community feedback and communicate feature requests to the Product Team.
- Identify community ambassadors and help them grow local SkyMapper groups.
- Assist Marketing by sharing community success stories, photos, videos, and testimonials.
- Help build documentation, FAQs, tutorials, and onboarding guides.
- Monitor community health and engagement metrics and propose improvements.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of astronomy or astrophotography is required.
- Excellent written English communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting with an international community across multiple time zones.
- Experience managing online communities (Discord, Telegram, Reddit, Slack, Facebook Groups, etc.).
- Passion for science, open-source projects, or decentralized technologies.
- Highly organized and proactive.
- Able to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience operating astronomical telescopes or observatories.
- Knowledge of satellite tracking, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), or amateur astronomy.
- Experience with Web3, blockchain, or DePIN projects.
- Familiarity with customer success or technical support.
- Experience organizing online events or volunteer communities.
